After making a stop in Cetona, perhaps having seized the opportunity to enjoy a plate of “pici all'aglione della Valdichiana”, the route heads towards Chiusi, only 15 km away along an easily accessible path. You descend from the slopes of Mount Cetona to enter the heart of the Valdichiana, facing its Umbrian side with Città della Pieve on the horizon. Descending towards the valley floor, you come across the typical landscape of an intensely cultivated plain, shaped since the Etruscan era. Follow the road parallel to the Roma Chiusi railway line along an unpaved road that leads to the Chiusi railway station, a bike-train interchange hub for the entire route of the White Giant. Here, it is worth a detour to visit the historic district of Chiusi, which is only 6 minutes by bike from the station. The city of the Etruscan “Lucumo” (king) Porsenna and of the Christian martyr Santa Mustiola is also home to the National Archaeological Museum, where you can visit the halls dedicated to the archeological finds from the important Etruscan necropolis of the Chiusi area. Before resuming your journey, another great point of interest to explore is the underground Chiusi, a series of tunnels of Etruscan origin with a small lake inside.
