THE GIANT ROUTE

A circular route to discover the entire Valdichiana, following the traces of the Chianina.

270 Km of emotions - Between the provinces of Arezzo and Siena, the White Giant Route is spread among medieval towns, ancient villages, Leopldine houses, farms, hydraulic works, fields of sunflowers, breathtaking views and Etruscan proves of a glorious past. Its common tread is the Chianina: along the route, it will be possible to visit the farms of the most renowned cattle breed and tasting the real Chianina: the White Giant route will offer an experience to directly get in touch with the excellence of a territory where human ingenuity is well integrated with the beauty of nature.

An experience of slow tourism - The White Giant Route has been conceived to be enjoyed with different means of travel. Each tourist can choose to discover it by car, by bike or by train. The circular route is interconnected with the cycle path of Sentiero della Bonifica -that connects Arezzo and Chiusi- following the Canale Maestro della Chiana for 62 flat kilometers, easily passable by all. It makes a stop also in several train stations that promote train rides along the railways lines Arezzo-Sinalunga, Arezzo-Chiusi and Siena-Sinalunga-Chiusi, favoring an eco-sustainable and slow mobility.

Where to start and what to see - As a circular route, you can enter the White Giant Route from every locality. By the way, the suggested starting points are two: Arezzo (here the cycle path Sentiero della Bonifica and the railways line take start) or Sinalunga, in the very heart of Valdichiana and in the middle of the itinerary. The digital map will ensure a thorough visit of the territory, by providing advices on churches, farms, museums, historical sites, restaurants, accommodation facilities and stations, as well as giving useful information about the rental or repair of bikes and the presence of fountains.

THE CYCLE PATH SENTIERO DELLA BONIFICA

A cycle path of 62 kilometers to ride along the Canale Maestro della Chiana, from the Chiusa dei Monaci of Arezzo to the lake of Chiusi. This route, flat and family-friendly, allows to go through the whole Valdichiana and discover a land where human ingenuity meets the beauties of nature. A sheltered route protected from the external traffic and well-equipped for refreshing stopovers, and a charming itinerary along the lands of the wine, the olive oil, and the real Chianina IPG.

THE WHITE GIANT TRAIN

Two railways cross the whole Valdichiana along the lines Arezzo-Sinalunga and Siena-Sinalunga-Chiusi. They allow to reach the major tourist attractions and the main cycling routes of the different municipal territories. The valley is entirely practicable by train from north to south and from west to east, an option that promote travels, environmental aware, among the railway stations which are equipped with services and facilities suited to a slow mobility (changing rooms, showers, toilets and bike-sharing).
